U.S. Outlook: Can we get a clean data point? Please!
It has been awhile since we have had a decent untainted reading on the health of the U.S. economy. U.S. economic data hasn’t disappointed economists’ expectations this badly since 2012.
- Housing data weakness largely due to harsh winter weather.
- Conference Board’s LEI index points to economic acceleration in 2nd half of 2014.
- The weak economic data is not enough to slow Fed’s taper strategy.
- Fed minutes suggest continued $10-billion monthly cutback in bond purchases, barring more severe signs of economic weakness.
