U.S. Outlook: Can we get a clean data point? Please!

Key observations:
  • Housing data weakness largely due to harsh winter weather.
  • Conference Board’s LEI index points to economic acceleration in 2nd half of 2014.
  • The weak economic data is not enough to slow Fed’s taper strategy.
  • Fed minutes suggest continued $10-billion monthly cutback in bond purchases, barring more severe signs of economic weakness.
