The U.S. election has thrown conventional wisdom on the economic outlook into a state of heightened uncertainty that is not likely to ease anytime soon.

Key observations:
  • The bond yield move so far has probably already erased nearly $500 billion in U.S. bond market value.
  • The Fed funds futures current probability of a December rate hike from the Federal Reserve is at a whopping 92%.
  • Uncertainty on the federal economic policy front is now higher than normal, which may hold back growth a bit in the current quarter.
  • In our view, the market and Trump are in a bit of a honeymoon period right now.
