“I looked down over the horizon and saw all these wind turbines staring at me,” he says. “I thought, ‘This is the way of the future.'”
Fast forward to today, and Jason lives in San Diego, where he helps the area’s cleantech cluster build that future as President and CEO of Cleantech San Diego. Founded 13 years ago as an economic development organization for the region’s then-burgeoning clean technology and renewable energy sectors, Cleantech San Diego now supports a thriving industry. The organization aims to accelerate clean technology innovation and the adoption of sustainable business practices to benefit San Diego’s economy and the environment.
Cleantech San Diego has championed the success of the clean technology and renewable energy sectors, which include:
- 3,000 companies in the San Diego area
- 40,000 employees supported by the industry
- $7 billion in annual economic impact
As an organization that values both economic and environmental benefits, Cleantech San Diego left one of the country’s largest banks in early 2020 to become a Bank of the West client.
“Bank of the West’s commitment to the environment is important to us. Diverting their investment funds from fossil fuels is important to us. Their focus on inclusion and diversity is important to us”, Jason says.
