Based in Southern California, Golden State Guiding offers outdoor experiences including rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing and splitboarding, ice climbing, and avalanche courses. Not only is the environment critical to Ryan’s business; he wants to share his passion for the outdoors with his family for years to come.
Among the company’s accomplishments, Golden State Guiding:
- Facilitated outings for more than 600 individuals in 2019 in and around San Diego, Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, the Eastern Sierra, and elsewhere
- Expanded its offerings to include AIARE avalanche courses
- Is a 1% for the Planet member, donating 1% of its annual profits to organizations preserving the environment, including Yosemite Conservancy, the Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center, and Protect our Winters (POW)
After learning that POW is collaborating with Bank of the West and researching the steps they are jointly taking to address climate change, he switched is banking relationship to Bank of the West.
“We did our due diligence,” says Ryan. “It’s really important to me that we align ourselves with like-minded businesses, whether that’s a financial institution or an environmental organization.”
